KnowYourDomain.io ("KYD", "we", "us") is a website intelligence platform operated by KnowYourDomain Ltd. We provide an API that crawls domains and uses AI to extract structured business intelligence from website content.
This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, and what rights you have over it.
We collect the minimum necessary to provide the service:
We do not collect data about the individuals who visit the domains you scan. Our engine reads publicly accessible website content only.
We do not sell your personal data. We do not use your data for advertising.
We share data only with service providers who help us operate KYD:
All processors are contractually required to handle your data in accordance with applicable privacy law and only for the purposes we specify.
We retain account and usage data for as long as your account is active, plus up to 90 days after deletion to allow for disputes or recovery requests. Billing records are retained for 7 years as required by law. Scan result data (the structured output of a domain scan) is retained for 12 months by default and can be deleted on request.
Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, or to object to or restrict how we process it. To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@knowyourdomain.io and we will respond within 30 days.
If you are in the EU or UK, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
We use strictly necessary cookies to keep you signed in and to protect against CSRF attacks. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. We do not use third-party analytics scripts on the logged-in dashboard.
All data is transmitted over TLS. API keys are hashed at rest. We conduct regular security reviews and apply the principle of least privilege across our infrastructure.
If we make material changes, we will notify you by email and update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the service after the effective date constitutes acceptance.

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of KnowYourDomain.io ("KYD", "the Service") operated by KnowYourDomain Ltd ("we", "us"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
KYD provides an API that crawls publicly accessible websites and uses AI to extract structured intelligence — including business identity, product information, pricing data, and risk signals — and returns it as structured JSON. The Service is provided on a credit-based model: each successful scan consumes one credit.
The Service crawls publicly accessible content only. It does not access any content that requires authentication, bypass any access controls, or violate any website's robots.txt in a way that constitutes unlawful access.
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and API keys. You must not share API keys publicly or in client-side code. You are responsible for all activity performed using your credentials, including activity from your applications, customers, or automated systems.
You must provide accurate information when creating your account and keep it up to date.
You may use the Service for lawful purposes only. You must not:
We reserve the right to investigate suspected violations and suspend or terminate access without notice if we reasonably believe a violation has occurred.
Credits are purchased in advance and consumed when a scan returns a successful result. Failed scans (network errors, unreachable domains, timeouts) are not charged. Credits on paid plans roll over indefinitely. Free-tier credits are a one-time grant and do not roll over.
Payment is processed by Paddle. All prices are exclusive of VAT unless otherwise stated. Refunds are available within 30 days of purchase if you are unsatisfied — email support@knowyourdomain.io and we will refund you in full, no questions asked.
The structured data returned by the KYD API is yours to use within your applications and workflows. You may store, process, and share it as part of your products and services. You may not represent KYD scan output as independently verified facts — it is AI-extracted intelligence from publicly accessible website content and should be treated as such.
KYD may use anonymised, aggregated scan patterns to improve the extraction models. We do not expose the specific domains you scan to other customers.
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not guarantee that scan output is complete, accurate, or up to date — extraction quality depends on the content of the target website. We do not warrant uninterrupted availability or error-free operation.
KYD is an intelligence tool. Decisions made using its output — including compliance decisions, risk assessments, or business determinations — are your responsibility. KYD output does not constitute legal, financial, or compliance advice.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, KnowYourDomain Ltd's total liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms or the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 3 months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or incidental damages of any kind.
You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these Terms, with or without notice depending on the severity of the breach. On termination, your access to the Service ends immediately. Credits remaining in your account at termination are non-refundable unless termination was caused by our breach.
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email and update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
